Aaron O'Neill, a '97-born forward from Tennessee--and already drawing reviews as possibly the best prospect to ever come from Tennessee-- that played last season with the TPH Thunder AAA program announced this evening via Twitter that he has verbally committed to play college hockey at the University of New Hampshire:
Excited to say that I have committed to play hockey at the University of New Hamshire! Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible!— Aaron O'Neill (@A_A_Ron11) August 19, 2013
As a '97 birthdate, O'Neill will join the Wildcats in either 2015 or 2016. This spring, O'Neill signed a tender with the Green Bay Gamblers which, by rule, means he will play in at least 50% of Green Bay's games next season.
O'Neill is a tremendously talented skater and responsible two-way player, and was the top forward prospect on a TPH team mostly built with '96 birthdates. His offensive instincts are still a little raw, but coming from the non-traditional hockey area of Tennessee, there's certainly the possibility for that to blossom as he sees more ice-time and specialized training.
