Chicago Mission U18 '97-born defenseman Vasili Kolias has committed to Boston University, according to the Mission's website.
Last year, Kolias played on the top defensive pairing for Chicago Mission's national championship-winning U16 team, alongside Notre Dame recruit Tory Dello. Kolias was invited to the NTDP's Final 40 tryout camp last spring, and was selected with the 6th pick of the second round in the USHL's Future's Draft by the Indiana Ice.
Kolias is a smaller defenseman, usually listed somewhere in the neighborhood of 5'9" 150 lbs., but has immense talent. Light on his feet, Kolias possesses an extremely quick first step. Despite being a smaller player, Kolias isn't afraid to play with an edge, and has the hockey sense to read plays and put himself in position to make big hits. He's consistently shown a lot of tools to be a standout player at the college level, and is another very nice recruiting pick-up for Boston University.
