Maxim Letunov Commits to Boston University

Boston University continues to roll in recruiting by picking up a skinny, but talented Russian-born forward.

US Hockey Report is reporting that '96 born forward Maxim Letunov has committed to Boston University. Letunov is currently playing for the Youngstown Phantoms. Letunov currently has 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points this year, which is good for third on the Phantoms in scoring.

Originally born in Moscow, Russia, Letunov played last season with the Dallas Stars AAA program. He led the Stars in scoring with 66 points, while the next highest teammate scored 45. Those 66 points were good enough to finish sixth in overall league scoring.

Letunov was rated as a 'C' skater by NHL Central Scouting for this year's upcoming NHL Draft. He's a very explosive skater with good hands and hockey sense. The biggest thing holding Letunov back from being an elite player is a lack of physical strength. Central Scouting lists him at 6'2.5" 155 lbs., the lightest USHL player listed by 10 lbs. Once he continues to fill out, Letunov is the type of player with incredible upside.
