St. George's (RI) forward Tim Doherty has verbally committed to Brown for the 2015 or 2016 season, according to USHR. The Portsmouth, RI native had 12 goals and 31 assists as a sophomore in 2011-12 and followed that up with 19 goals and 36 assists last season as a junior.
Doherty will play for Brendan Whittet at Brown University. The Bears are off to a 2-1-1 start in the ECAC. After winning the Liberty Hockey Invitational in Newark the first weekend of the season Brown lost to Clarkson and skated to a tie with St. Lawrence last weekend.
Brown will play at Quinnipiac and at Princeton this weekend. Doherty has also played midget hockey with the Mass. Junior Senators program and will reportedly play some for the Junior Bruins in the USPHL this year in addition to his duties at St. George's. A notable St. George's alum who played in the ECAC recently was Shea Guthrie who graduated from Clarkson in 2009. A draft pick of the New York Islanders, Guthrie is now playing in Europe.
