John DeRoche, the leading scoring in the USPHL U16 Division, has committed to playing college hockey at Quinnipiac University for head coach Rand Pecknold. The Junior Bruins forward 20 goals and 23 assists in 26 games for Topher Bevis' team.
College hockey fans might recognize the name of his coach, as Bevis was a defenseman at UMass-Amherst from 2005-2009. Back to DeRoche, he is a smaller forward, but has good speed and terrific hockey sense. He is one of those players who seems to be in the right place at the right time, and finds open scoring lanes.
