Avon Old Farms Forward Liam Murphy Commits to UCONN

The new Connecticut staff is putting together great recruiting classes for the future as the Huskies prepare to join Hockey East next summer.

Avon Old Farms forward Liam Murphy has committed to the University of Connecticut for the fall of 2015. The Redding, Conn. native has played midget hockey with the CT Wolfpack and the East Coast Militia. He will be playing his first season of prep hockey this winter for the Winged Beavers of Avon Old Farms.

Murphy joins a growing list of elite prospects committing to first year UCONN coach Mike Cavanaugh. In addition to Murphy, Jeff Wight, Ben Freeman, Will Golonka and Miles Gendron have all pledged to play college hockey for the Huskies since August.

UCONN will join Hockey East following the completion of this season. Cavanaugh was a veteran assistant coach at Boston College where he was on staff for four NCAA Championships and countless other accomplishments.
