St. Michael's Buzzers forward Matt Alvaro has committed to Providence College for the fall of 2015. The Toronto, Ont. native has scored two goals and six assists in nine games this season in the OJHL. Alvaro, a speedy left shot forward, was drafted by the Peterborough Petes in the 2012 OHL Draft, but appears committed to the NCAA route.
Alvaro will play for head coach Nate Leaman at Providence. The third-year Friars head coach just agreed to a contract extension that will keep him at PC until after the 2020-21 season. Leaman, who previously led Union to heights unseen in program history, has taken the Friars to the Hockey East Semifinals in each of his first two seasons.
