University of Michigan freshman left wing Kyle Connor has signed an entry level contract with the Winnipeg Jets. The national scoring leader was selected by the Jets in the 2015 NHL Draft out of the Youngstown Phantoms in the USHL.
The Shelby Township, Mich. native scored 35 goals and 36 assists in 38 games played. Connor was one of three Hobey Baker Hat Trick Finalists, but was beat out for college hockey's ultimate individual award by Harvard senior left wing Jimmy Vesey.
Connor's biggest asset is his speed. He can go from 0 to 60 quickly and has an extra gear to blow by opposing defenders. He has a great shot that he gets off quickly and accurately. His one weakness is his lack of physical strength, but that is something that will improve.
