Big Ten Suspends Minnesota's Seeler for Flying Elbow

Matt Christians

In what comes as no surprise to anyone that saw the replay, the Big Ten has announced a one-game suspension to Minnesota's Nick Seeler for the flying elbow he delivered to the head of St. Cloud State's Niklas Nevalainen in the second period of last night's 7-4 St. Cloud State win over Minnesota.

Here's a video of the hit courtesy of CJ Fogler(@cjzero):

If anything, Seeler is lucky to only draw a one-game suspension for the hit. Seeler was assessed a five-minute major and game misconduct on the play. He will miss Minnesota's Big Ten home opener next Friday at home against Ohio State.

This was Seeler's first game misconduct with the Gophers, though he was assessed a five-minute major and game misconduct for contact to the head as a member of Nebraska-Omaha's team in 2014.
