Big Ten Hockey: Ohio State forward Matthew Weis suspended 1 game

Weis,a freshman forward with 13 points in 20 games, was suspended for his hit to the head of Michigan State's Michael Ferrantino. He will miss the Buckeyes' game against Minnesota on February 6.

Ohio State freshman forward Matthew Weis will miss the Buckeyes' next game after being suspended.

The Freehold, New Jersey native received a five minute major and game misconduct for his hit to the head Saturday on Michigan State captain Michael Ferrantino. The Spartans went on to score during the major and defeated Ohio State 2-0.

The Big Ten announced Monday Weis would receive additional discipline.

Weis, who has 13 points (4G-9A) in 20 games this season, is ineligible for Ohio State's road game against Minnesota on February 6.
