Wisconsin head coach Mike Eaves is known for often colorful analogies and metaphors. He opened the season by comparing his team, which features 10 freshmen, to a box of puppies.
On Saturday, Wisconsin lost 5-2 to Minnesota, in a game that wasn't really as close as the score indicates, one night after the Badgers pulled off an improbable tie and shootout victory over the Gophers.
After Saturday's game, Eaves went back to his puppy analogy:
"Much like puppies in a box they always want to get out, when they do something good you want to scratch them on the ear," said Eaves.

"Next thing you know they’re crapping on the carpet. We crapped on the carpet tonight," said the Badger coach.

Eaves team may be a dreadful 2-13-2 on the season and by any measure one of the worst teams in the country. But Eaves remains one of college hockey's most colorful characters.
