The Big Ten Conference announced on Saturday afternoon that Michigan State senior forward Brent Darnell will be suspended for today's game against UMass as the result of a check from behind in Friday night's game against UMass.
Darnell was assessed a five-minute major and game misconduct at the 11:52 mark of the first period last night, and after the reviewing the play, the Big Ten has basically decided to extend that penalty to a game disqualification.
Darnell has 41 points in 108 career games for the Spartans.
