Ferraris leaves Mercyhurst for prep coaching gig

David Leisenring

Mercyhurst associate head coach Robert Ferraris has left the Lakers program to take the head coaching job at his prep school alma mater, Trinity-Pawling. Ferraris will be the Assistant Director of Admissions at the New York prep school in addition to his role as head hockey coach.

A native of Falmouth, Mass., he played college hockey at Division III Saint Anselm from 1993-1997. Ferraris had been on head coach Rick Gotkin's staff in Erie since the 2005-06 season.

Mercyhurst finished the 2014-15 season 19-16-4, falling one game short of an NCAA bid. The Lakers lost to RIT, 5-1, in the Atlantic Hockey championship game.
