Las Vegas Golden Knights prospect Nick Campoli is heading back to junior hockey after he didn't pass NCAA Clearinghouse requirements.

The Toronto, Ontario native was slated to begin playing NCAA Division I hockey for Clarkson University. Instead, he will take courses at a community college while playing junior hockey during the 2017-18 season.

Campoli, a '99, played the past two seasons with the North York Rangers in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). While his USHL rights were picked up by Sioux Falls Stampede, he could also return to his native Ontario to continue playing in the OJHL. The Georgetown Raiders are a possible destination.

Campoli, Vegas' sixth round selection in the 2017 NHL Draft, signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Casey Jones' Clarkson program so it is believed he'll still matriculate to the Potsdam, N.Y. campus for the 2018-19 season.
