The Edmonton Oilers announced on Monday that they have signed Air Force sophomore goalie Shane Starrett to an entry-level contract.
Starrett is a 6-5 195 lbs. goalie with tremendous athleticism that put together two great seasons for the Falcons. This past year, he posted a .925 save percentage and 1.99 goals against average, while leading Air Force to a top-15 finish nationally and the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament.
Because Starrett was only a sophomore, he is not bound by the Air Force Academy’s post-graduate military service requirement, allowing him to play for the Oilers organization.
Terms of Starrett’s contract were not disclosed by the Oilers.
