Penn State sophomore defenseman Vince Pedrie has signed a free agent entry-level contract with the New York Rangers, forgoing his final two years of eligibility.
Pedrie was named first team all-Big Ten this past season. He was the top scoring defenseman for the Nittany Lions this season with a 8-22-30 scoring line in 38 games, helping lead Penn State to their first NCAA tournament appearance.
Pedrie is a versatile two-way defenseman that plays a strong defensive game, and has a big shot from the point that he uses to generate offense.
