Northeastern outgoing senior captain John Stevens has signed a two-year entry-level free agent contract with the New York Islanders.
Stevens, the son of Los Angeles Kings associate head coach John Stevens, tallied a 5-23-28 scoring line in 25 games this season while captaining the Huskies. But Stevens is more known for his play on the defensive side of the puck. He’s a very smart two-way centerman with very high hockey IQ and above average vision of the ice.
Stevens projects has a defensive-minded center at the NHL level capable of filling a third or fourth line role.
