TSN analyst Bob McKenzie has released his mid-term NHL Draft rankings. As Bob is always the first to point out, these aren’t “his” rankings, so much as a compilation of a poll of scouts and front office decision-makers, which ultimately makes for a very accurate list, at least in terms of what the general consensus is in the scouting community.
A few big takeaways from the list:
-The race for the top spot is a two-man race between Nolan Patrick and Nico Hischier, with Patrick holding the decided edge. Those two have kind of pulled away from the pack.
-After that, things become a bit of a mess. Every prospect between 3 and 13 got one or more votes in the top five, and one or more votes outside of the top 12. There’s very little consensus at this point
-NCAA names of note on the list include:
5. Casey Mittelstadt(Minnesota)
9. Eeli Tolvanen(Boston College)
12. Cale Makar(UMass)
17. Ryan Poehling(St. Cloud State)
20. Shane Bowers(Boston University)
25. Jake Oettinger(Boston University)
38. Grant Mismash(North Dakota)
41. Keith Petruzelli(Quinnipiac)
47 Cayden Primeau(Northeastern)
50. Scott Reedy(Minnesota)
59. Luke Martin(Michigan)
60. Josh Norris(Michigan)
65. Dylan Samberg(Minnesota Duluth)
72. Cameron Crotty(Boston University)
76. David Farrance(Boston University)
79. Tyler Inamoto(Wisconsin)
