Joey Mormina has been hired as an assistant coach of the men’s hockey program at Mercyhurst College.
The 2005 Colgate alum wrapped up his minor pro playing career this past season with the Syracuse Crunch and Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Mormina played for the Red Raiders from 2001-2005, racking up 16 goals and 40 assists in 141 career games. A defenseman, he was an alternate captain or captain six times while in the AHL.
The Montreal native replaces John Ronan, who left for the same position at Union, on the Rick Gotkin’s staff.
