The Massachusetts Tier I Labor Day Face Off Tournament will take place this weekend at 12 facilities across Massachusetts.
It’s nearly impossible to figure out all the madness, but the 18U Elite East/West Division and 16U Atlantic/Pacific Red Division are the top two for midget major and midget minor, respectively.
Most of the action in these top two divisions will take place at the Foxboro Sports Center with a few games just 10 minutes down the road at Rodman Arena in Walpole.
Agree or disagree with the phenomenon of playing up, the Little Bruins 18U team will be one to keep an eye on over the course of the weekend and the entire fall split season. Coached by Peter Masters, the team has three 2001-born players and two 2000-born players in a division that mostly consists of players born in 1998 and 1999. All the 2001s are committed — Braden Doyle to BU, Sean Farrell to Harvard and Patrick Moynihan to BC.
The top 16U Division will be a fun one with teams from outside the region competing such as Jersey Hitmen, Buffalo Jr. Sabres, Virtua Hockey and PAL Islanders.
