USHL Unveils Protected, Affiliate Lists

USHL

The United States Hockey League (USHL) released each organization’s 30-man protected and affiliate lists on Thursday morning. In total, 315 players listed are committed to play college hockey.

According to the USHL release, Minnesota led the way in terms of players from the state. 90 players from Minnesota are on either the protected or affiliate list of a USHL team. Michigan (68), Illinois (30), Massachusetts (27) and Wisconsin (27) round out the top five most represented states.

In total, players from 32 U.S. states, six Canadian provinces and 14 other countries are on the protected or affiliate lists. USHL teams must cut down to 23-man protected lists before September 19.

Each team’s roster must have three U18 players and not more than four 1996-born players nor more than four import players. Two goaltenders must be on the active roster at all times.
