The 2016 NCAA men's ice hockey tournament kicks off today with two of the four regions playing their first round games today.

The action stars this afternoon in the Midwest Regional at US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. #1 seed North Dakota takes on red-hot #4 seed Northeastern at 2pm EST. That game can be seen on ESPNU. Here is our preview of the match-up.

The next to face-off will be the Northeast Regional at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Top seed Providence takes on another fourth seed that comes into the tournament on a roll in Minnesota Duluth at 4:30pm EST. This is the only game of the day that will not be televised, but it can be streamed on ESPN3. Here is our preview of the game.

The action heads back to Cincinnati next, where second seed Michigan will take on a once and future conference foe in third seed Notre Dame. That game is scheduled to start at 5:30pm local time, and will be shown live on ESPNU.

The final game of the evening will be the second game in Worcester, with a prime time battle of two local teams. Second seed Boston College faces Beanpot rival and third seed Harvard. That game is scheduled to start at 8:00pm EST and will also be shown on ESPNU.
