The Midwest Regional in Cincinnati, Ohio features two of the most prominent programs in college hockey history. North Dakota, the top seed in the regional, brings its seven national championships while second-seeded Michigan has nine to its resume.
The region also boasts two of the best lines in college hockey with Michigan's trio all earning spots on the list of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award. Left wing Kyle Connor leads the country in scoring alongside center JT Compher and right wing Tyler Motte.
North Dakota's explosive first line is led by freshman right wing Brock Boeser with Nick Schmaltz at center and Drake Caggiula on the left side.
The fourth seed, Northeastern, is the hottest team in the country. Jim Madigan's Huskies are riding a 13-game unbeaten streak and have lost just once since prior to Christmas.
Notre Dame, arguably the coldest team entering the NCAA Tournament, lost five of its last six games, but has the advantage of the best goaltender in the region in Cal Petersen.
