Union College junior forward Mike Vecchione will return to Schenectady for his final season of eligibility next season, as first reported by Ken Schott of the Daily Gazette:
BREAKING: Mike Vecchione will return for his senior season at #UnionHockey. #ECACHockey
— Ken Schott (@slapschotts) March 14, 2016
Vecchione led the Dutchmen in scoring last season with a 9-20-29 scoring line, but saw his stock drop a bit with a significant drop in scoring from his sophomore season when he scored 50 points along with senior forward Daniel Ciampini. Vecchione turned down NHL interest last summer, citing a desire to improve some other facets of his game, and to have a more successful final season at Union.
The Dutchmen finished in ninth place in a very deep ECAC this year, and had an overall record one game below .500, but with Vecchione returning, they will return 10 of their top 11 scorers from this past season, along with both of their goalies, putting them in position for more success next year.
