World Junior Hockey: Team USA Downs Slovakia, 5-2

The United States improved to 2-0 at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship with a 5-2 victory over Slovakia on Wednesday night at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

Tanner Laczynski, Colin White, Tage Thompson, Charlie McAvoy and Troy Terry each scored a goal to pace the American offense. Jack Roslovic and Joe Cecconi both had two assists each. Joe Woll made 18 saves on 20 shots for the victory.

Team USA returns to action Thursday at 3:30 ET against Russia, who enters the game with a 1-1 record. The Russians lost, 5-3, to Canada in their WJC opener before beating Latvia, 9-1.
