Boston College and North Dakota will play a college hockey game at Madison Square Garden in New York City in December 2016, the two schools announced on Thursday afternoon.
BC and UND have clashed in some very significant post-season games over the past two decades, including in back-to-back NCAA Championship games in 2000 and 2001. The Eagles defeated North Dakota in overtime in the 2001 game to break a drought that went back to 1949.
The iconic arena, dubbed the most famous arena in the world, has been host to several college hockey games in recent years including a bi-annual showdown between BC's rival, Boston University, and Cornell.
