There was a differing of opinion between the league coaches and members of the media when the ECAC Hockey announced the preseason polls on Tuesday morning.

Defending ECAC Hockey Tournament Champion Harvard topped the 2015 ECAC Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll while Yale came out on top in the ECAC Hockey Preseason Media Poll. While the coaches and media disagreed on who the top team in the league would be, there was no such disagreement in terms of the top four teams.

The order wasn't the same in each poll, but coaches and media both picked Harvard, St. Lawrence, Yale and Quinnipiac to finish in the all-important top four that would guarantee a first round bye in the ECAC Hockey Playoffs.

The ECAC Hockey media also released the 2015 Preseason All-ECAC Hockey Team. Harvard senior Jimmy Vesey, Union junior Mike Vecchione and Quinnipiac junior Sam Anas were the three forwards selected. St. Lawrence junior Gavin Bayreuther and Yale senior Rob O'Gara were pegged on defense. Yale junior goaltender Alex Lyon was also named to the team.
