NCAA says Sparty No to Michigan State painting Munn blue lines green
Michigan State recently underwent the first phase of renovating Munn Ice Arena. As part of the renovations, the blue lines were painted Sparty green when the ice was flooded over the summer. It was Michigan State AD Mark Hollis' idea, according to the Detroit Free Press, saying "it is about the heritage and the color of the school without taking any of the integrity of the game away."
The NCAA, and likely over a century of history, disagreed. MSU's attempt to grant a one-year waiver from the NCAA went about as well as moving to the Big Ten did with hardcore fans. Instead the Spartans will have to repaint the lines blue and maintain the integrity of the rules.
