Colgate's Spiro Goulakos Wins Lowe's Senior CLASS Award

Colgate Athletic Communications

Colgate senior defenseman Spiro Goulakos was named the recipient of the 2015 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award today. The award recognizes the top senior student-athlete in Division I college hockey.

In addition to being a two-time captain for the Raiders, Goulakos earned a Dean's Award for his work in the classroom and participated in multiple charitable efforts. Goulakos is also a surviror of Hodgkin's lymphoma, which he was diagnosed with as a sophomore.

Goulakos' head coach Don Vaughn was quoted as saying:

"For a guy like Spiro, with everything that he’s been through—I think he epitomizes what the Senior CLASS Award stands for. He’s so involved in all aspects of the university, obviously on the ice and at the rink, but also on campus and in the community. In my opinion, he’s the most deserving person for this award. I’m so proud of him."

In addition to Goulakos, ten other senior players were also recognized with first team and second team awards:
