Wisconsin senior forward Joseph LaBate has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks drafted LaBate in the fourth round, 101st overall in the 2011 NHL Draft.
LaBate was Wisconsin's second-leading scorer this past season, tallying six goals and 12 assists for the offensively moribund Badgers. For his career, LaBate had a 31-52-83 scoring line in 150 career games played.
LaBate played a pair of games with the Canucks AHL affilaite in Utica, New York after the conclusion of Wisconsin's season on a Professional Tryout Offer, and those games helped LaBate earn the contract offer.
