North Dakota senior forward Mark MacMillan has signed an entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens.
MacMillan's senior season came to a premature end when he broke his kneecap blocking a shot, but prior to that, he put together a very strong senior campaign for North Dakota. He finished the year with 16 goals, and nine assists for 25 points in 29 games played.
We ranked MacMillan as the 54th-best NHL prospect in the NCAA this past winter. Our scouting report:
MacMillan has always had sweet hands and good goal-scoring touch around the net, but over the course of North Dakota career, he's developed into a much stronger, tougher forward that is very tough to knock off the puck. He's a strong skater as well and is capable of playing a good 200-foot game.
Still sideline by his injury, MacMillan will likely finish his schooling at North Dakota this year, before starting his entry-level contract next fall.
