Minnesota State senior defenseman Zach Palmquist, a native of South St. Paul, Minnesota, has signed a free agent with his hometown Minnesota Wild.
Palmquist is a smaller offensive-minded defenseman that uses his excellent skating ability to jump into the play on the offensive end. Palmquist scored 8 goals and 21 assists for 29 points this season, ranking 8th nationally among defensemen in scoring. He finished his Minnesota State career with a 25-71-96 scoring line in 160 career games played. Palmquist never missed a game in his Maverick career and was often counted on to log heavy ice time for the Mavericks.
Palmquist's contract with the Wild will begin next fall for the 2015-2016 season. He will report to the Iowa Wild, Minnesota's AHL affiliate to finish the season on an Amateur Tryout Offer.
