Cornell senior defenseman Joakim Ryan announced that he has signed a two year entry level contract with the San Jose Sharks:
Very excited and thankful for an opportunity to sign with @SanJoseSharks big thanks to all those have helped and supported me along the way!
— Joakim Ryan (@JoakimRyan) March 26, 2015
Ryan was a seventh round draft choice of the Sharks in the 2012 NHL Draft.
Ryan's senior season was slowed down by an injury suffered in the first game of the season that held him out until early December. Ryan was the top defenseman for the Big Red this season, playing heavy minutes including quarterbacking their power play. He finished the season with a 1-13-14 scoring line in 23 games. His smooth skating ability made him a factor on both ends of the ice.
