Carolina Hurricanes Signs Merrimack Goalie Rasmus Tirronen

Merrmimack senior goalie Rasmus Tirronen has signed an NHL contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. Tirronen's deal is a one-year contract, beginning next season. The club disclosed that Tirronen's deal will pay him $575,000 at the NHL level and $65,000 at the AHL level.

Tirronen was a stalwart in net for the Warriors, helping to carry an offensively-challenge club.He posted numbers of 2.30/.929 on the season. His .929 save percentage placed him 13th overall in the nation. He was given Honorable Mention in this year's Hockey East awards balloting, and was named third team goalie on our All-Hockey East Team, behind standout prospects Jon Gillies and Thatcher Demko.
