It took a pair of overtimes, including an empty five-minute man advantage, but Harvard finally defeated Yale 3-2 thanks to a Jimmy Vesey overtime goal to advance to the ECAC semifinals.
This game was huge for the two teams involved. Prior to the end result, Yale was sitting at 14th in the Pairwise, while Harvard was 19th. With the win, Harvard jumps to 15th, while Yale falls to 18th.
Harvard isn't necessarily in the tournament, and Yale isn't necessarily out of the tournament, but the prospects look much brighter for Harvard after the win, while it's much more likely that Yale has played their last game of the season.
