ECAC Hockey Standings and Playoff Picture

With one weekend remaining in the ECAC Hockey regular season, some things are known and some are less certain as teams make one last push for playoff positioning.

Quinnipiac has clinched at least a share of the regular season title and thus the top seed in the ECAC Hockey Tournament. St. Lawrence will be the No. 2 seed and have the second bye into the quarterfinals. The fight for the third and fourth seeds, which are the last two byes in the first round, will be the most intriguing aspect of the final weekend of the regular season.

Amazingly, the defending NCAA champion Union College Dutchmen will be on the road for the first round of the conference playoffs. Rick Bennett's team lost a ton to graduation and the early departure of Shayne Gostisbehere hurt, but it's hard to fathom how far Union has fallen since being ranked in the top five as late as the end of October.

The other key element to this weekend is the fight for the final home ice spot in the first round. It's Clarkson's to lose as the Golden Knights are three points up on RPI, but it's still mathematically possible for the Engineers to jump into that coveted eighth spot.
