Maine's Vesey Suspended by Hockey East

Matt Dewkett

Maine sophomore forward Nolan Vesey was suspended for one game by Hockey East on Monday, just one day after an ugly spearing incident marred the Black Bears' 2-0 shutout loss at Boston College.

After time expired, the Toronto Maple Leafs prospect went over to and speared BC goaltender Thatcher Demko. Vesey was promptly tackled into the net by BC juniors Ian McCoshen and Ryan Fitzgerald.

It wasn't the only ugly incident of the game as there was a line brawl with 3:45 remaining that resulted in Rob McGovern spending the rest of the game in the penalty box.
