NCHC Suspends UMD's Soucy

Matt Christians

The NCHC announced it has suspended University of Minnesota Duluth junior defenseman Carson Soucy one game for an illegal contact to the head infraction in the Bulldogs' season opening loss at Bemidji State Saturday evening.

The Irma, Alberta native was whistled for a five-minute major and game misconduct with 2:45 remaining in the first period. The NCHC has issued a one-game ban in conjunction with the league's supplemental discipline policy.

The Minnesota Wild prospect, who had 40 penalty minutes as a sophomore, will be eligible to return for UMD's home game against Minnesota on Saturday night. He'll miss Friday's game against the Gophers at Mariucci Arena.
