Despite Connor McDavid and Team Canada winning Gold at the 2015 World Junior Championship and the U.S. failing to advance out of the quarterfinals, TSN's Craig Button writes that he believes Jack Eichel and McDavid are still "neck and neck" in the race for the first overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.
In Button's most recent release of "Craig's List" he ranks McDavid No. 1 and Eichel No. 2. Boston College freshman defenseman Noah Hanifin comes in next among NCAA players and recruits at No. 5. Michigan freshman defenseman Zach Werenski came in one spot behind Hanifin. Youngstown Phantoms speedster Kyle Connor, a Wolverines commit, came in at No. 10.
In total, 18 current and future NCAA players made the list. Boston University had the most representation in his top 100 with Eichel and fellow freshmen A.J. Greer and Brien Diffley. Terrier commit Jordan Greenway of the US NTDP also made the list.
BC commits Colin White and Jeremy Bracco also checked in on the list. Notre Dame also had two recruits, Tory Dello and Christian Fischer, make the top 100.
The top uncommitted player is former Wisconsin recruit Brock Boeser. The Waterloo Blackhawks forward was ranked No. 15. He and Connor headline the list of players in next week's USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game at the Mystique Family Arena.
