Former Lincoln Stars defenseman Zack Pittman has abruptly left Canisius College after less than a week at school to sign with the Ottawa 67s of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The '95 from Macomb, Mich. is a big, solid defender who would have had a huge impact on the Golden Griffin blue line.
A physical defenseman, Pittman racked up over 200 penalty minutes in two seasons in the USHL. He grew up in the Belle Tire youth organization before playing one winter with Honeybaked prior to heading to the USHL.
Pittman will begin playing for the Ottawa 67s, a major junior organization, meaning he will forfeit NCAA eligibility.
