Eddie Olczyk has moved on to the next chapter of his hockey career. The UMass alum and former minor pro player has accepted a position as assistant coach at Division III Utica College.

Olczyk, the son of retired NHL star and TV broadcaster Ed Olczyk, played for the Minutemen from 2009-2013 before playing this past season with the Bloomington Thunder in the SPHL. A native of Long Grove, Ill., Olcyzk registered four goals and two assists in 85 games with UMass.

Olczyk joins Gary Heenan's staff at Utica, a member of the ECAC West. Heenan, a Hamilton College alum, has been the head coach of the Pioneers since 2001. Utica has won three regular season titles, captured one conference postseason championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament once in Heenan's tenure.
