Blogging the 2014 NHL Draft from inside the Wells Fargo Center

6:00 ET - Welcome inside the Wells Fargo Center here in Philadelphia where we're an hour away from kicking things off here at the 2014 NHL Draft. As many as six current and future collegians, including Alex Tuch, Sonny Milano, Dylan Larkin, Nick Schmaltz, Thatcher Demko and Jack Dougherty, are expected to be selected in tonight's first round.

7:18 ET - With the first overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, the Florida Panthers are on the clock.

7:19 ET - The Florida Panthers have selected defenseman Aaron Ekblad of the Barrie Colts (OHL) with the first overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

7:26 ET - The Buffalo Sabres select Sam Reinhart of the Kootenay Ice (WHL) with the second pick.

7:32 ET - Leon Draisaitl of the Prince Albert Raiders (WHL) goes to the Edmonton Oilers with the third pick.

7:37 ET - With the fourth overall pick the Calgary Flames take forward Sam Bennett of the Kingston Frontenacs (OHL). He was ranked No. 1 by NHL Central Scouting Service in both the mid-term and final rankings.

7:44 ET - The New York Islanders select Michael Dal Colle from the Oshawa Generals in the OHL with the fifth pick.

7:50 ET - Jake Virtanen of the Calgary Hitmen (WHL) goes sixth overall to the Vancouver Canucks.

7:56 ET - Haydn Fleury from the WHL's Red Deer Rebels goes to the Carolina Hurricanes with the seventh pick.

8:02 ET - The Toronto Maple Leafs take William Nylander from Modo (Sweden) with the eight pick. He's the first European taken tonight in the draft.

8:08 ET - With the ninth pick, the Winnipeg Jets select Nikolaj Ehlers from the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads.

8:15 ET - The Anaheim Ducks take Peterborough Petes leftwing Nicholas Ritchie with the 10th overall pick.

8:17 ET - 10 picks into the 2014 NHL Draft without a future collegian selected. Boston College recruit Alex Tuch ranked 12th in Central Scouting's final rankings so the time might be near.

8:22 ET - Kevin Fiala of HC 71 is taken 11th by the Nashville Predators. The Swiss-born center is the second European taken in tonight's draft. He was ranked 3rd in Central Scouting's final rankings among European skaters, but he climbed eight spots from 11 at the mid-term.

8:26 ET - Brendan Perlini from the OHL's Niagara IceDogs taken 12th by the Arizona Coyotes.

8:35 ET - Jacob Vrana from the Czech Republic goes 13th to the Washington Capitals.

8:38 ET - Julius Honka from the Swift Current Broncos in the WHL goes 14th to the Dallas Stars.

8:40 ET - Still no college players or recruits off the board after 14 picks. Michigan forward J.T. Compher went 35th overall last season, the first NCAA player selected in the 2013 NHL Draft.
