Michigan Recruit Dylan Larkin Selected 15th Overall By Detroit

Larkin is the first NCAA prospect taken in the NHL Draft.

Michigan recruit Dylan Larkin was the first NCAA-eligible player to hear his name called at the 2014 NHL Draft when the Detroit Red Wings selected him with the 15th overall pick in the first round of the NHL Draft.

Here is our pre-draft scouting report on Larkin.

Larkin is a native of southeastern Michigan, hailing from Waterford, Michigan and the Red Wings will be able to keep a close eye on him next season when he plays with the University of Michigan. For Michigan fans, Larkin landing with the Red Wings is good news, as the Wings are known for being extremely patient with their prospects, and are unlikely to try and push Larkin towards the CHL, even though Larkin seemed resolute on keeping his commitment to Michigan in pre-draft interviews.
