Daniel Carr Signs with Montreal Canadiens

The national champions' leading scorer inks a deal with Montreal.

Union senior forward and NHL free agent Daniel Carr has parlayed his great final campaign into an entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

Carr was an assistant captain for Union and also led the national champion Dutchmen in scoring this year with a scoring line of 22-28-50 in 39 games. He finished his career with 157 points in 160 career games at Union, which is a Union school record.

Carr, originally from Manitoba, is generously listed at 6-0 195 lbs., though plays with a tenacity that helps overcome his lack of size. He's a smart, two-way player with some offensive abilities. He'll likely need to spend some time with Montreal's AHL affiliate before he's ready for the NHL, but could provide some depth at the NHL-level one day.
