Minnesota basically controlled play all night long against a St. Cloud team exhausted from last night's overtime victory. The Gophers rolled comfortably to a 4-0 win, and earned their way to the 2014 Frozen Four in Philadelphia, where they will face hated rival North Dakota for the first time since the two teams left the WCHA.
Here was the final scoring from tonight's game.
First Period
11:09- Justin Kloos from Nate Condon and Justin Holl 1-0 Minnesota
Off a scramble in front of the St. Cloud net, Kloos picked up the puck on the right side of the net and skated around the behind net to attempt a wraparound. Kloos banked his shot into the net off a St. Cloud defender and into the net.
Second Period
3:28 Seth Ambroz from Jake Parenteau and Travis Boyd
Travis Boyd won a puck battle along the wall and fed it to Parenteau. Parenteau took a slap shot from the point that Faragher saved, but Ambroz was there to pick up a rebound and shovel it past Faragher.
9:53 Justin Kloos from Taylor Cammarata and Nate Condon 3-0 Minnesota
Third Period
8:16 Kyle Rau from Mike Reilly and Travis Boyd (power play) 4-0 Minnesota
Reilly one-timed a low slap shot from the point. St. Cloud goalie Charlie Lindgren kicked out the rebound right to Rau, who put it back into the net.
