You may have heard of Jonathan Gaudreau. Colloquially referred to as "Johnny Hockey," Gaudreau is the leading scorer in the country by a wide margin, is fresh off a hat trick against Denver in the Northeast Regional semifinal, and has done it all in his junior season.
Well... we thought he had done it all.
Gaudreau showed a new wrinkle in his bag of tricks in the Northeast Regional final Sunday against UMass Lowell when he attempted to head to puck into the net off a one-timer.
While it certainly forced a difficult save out of River Hawks goalie Connor Hellebuyck, it's important to note the goal would not have counted, as pucks can only be directed in on attempts with sticks.
Boston College and UMass Lowell are currently tied at one in the middle of the second period. Gaudreau assisted on the Eagles' first goal in the game's opening frame.
