Carolina Hurricanes Sign Michigan's Phil DiGiuseppe

The Canes sign their 2012 second round pick.

Michigan junior forward Phil DiGIuseppe has signed an entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. DiGiuseppe was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. This past season, he totaled a 13-11-24 scoring line in 35 games with the Wolverines.

DiGiuseppe had a promising freshman season as a young, first-time draft eligible player three seasons ago, but could never significantly improve on that freshman year to become a go-to player for the Wolverines, which helped play a part in Michigan missing out on the NCAA each of the past two seasons, after a streak of 22 consecutive trips to the tournament.

DiGiuseppe is listed at 6-1 195 lbs. with good hands and playmaking ability. He improved on the defensive end of the ice and working in the corners over the course of his career at Michigan, though still likely stand to improve in both of those areas.
