Live Blog:
9:22 p.m. - UMass Lowell is 3:49 away from its second consecutive Hockey East Tournament Championship.
9:20 p.m. - Senior Jeff Wyer replaces Casey DeSmith in the crease for UNH.
9:02 p.m. - Joseph Pendenza gets hauled down on a breakaway and is awarded a penalty shot. He goes backhand and DeSmith stops him with his glove. Score remains 4-0 UMass Lowell.
8:30 p.m. - Jake Suter's power play goal at 18:43 gives UMass Lowell 4-0 lead after two periods. A.J. White and Joseph Pendenza get the assists. It was a wrist shot from the point right off the face-off through a screen. River Hawks well on their way to back-to-back Hockey East Championships.
8:23 p.m. - Casey DeSmith just robs Joe Pendenza in the slot. Wildcats still trail, 3-0, with 3:15 to play in second period.
7:58 p.m. - UMass Lowell extends its lead to 3-0. Jeff Silengo fails to get the puck in deep and UML brings it the other way at 2:13. Terrence Wallin had great patience to wait before slipping it to Joe Gambardella for the easy put away. Gambardella replaced Chris Maniccia in the lineup for UML tonight.
7:55 p.m. Play is back underway in the second period.
7:40 p.m. - UMass Lowell leads New Hampshire, 2-0, after 20 minutes. Turnovers, inability to clear pucks and losing puck battles cost UNH in period one. Rebound control from DeSmith was also weak.
7:31 p.m. - Brett Pesce loses a puck battle leading to a chance for Lowell which ends up in back of the net. Joseph Pendenza's shot saved miraculously by Casey DeSmith, but no one gets back to cover Josh Holmstrom who buries it into net. 2-0 River Hawks. Pendenza and A.J. White on the assists at 15:28 of the first period.
7:24 p.m. - UMass Lowell strikes first on a failed clearing attempt by UNH. Nick Sorkin can't get it out of the zone and Christian Folin shoots it down low to Joe Pendenza in the corner. In turn Pendenza fires it on DeSmith who can't cover the puck and A.J. White pushes it in. 1-0 UMass Lowell at 12:12 of the first period.
7:18 p.m. - Tyler Kelleher and Dalton Speelman have a good chance on a break-in, but Kelleher can't finish off the pass by Speelman. Scoreless just over halfway through the first period.
