Hockey East semifinals preview: New Hampshire, Providence line charts

In the second matchup Friday night at TD Garden, the Providence Friars will take on the New Hampshire Wildcats.

During the Hockey East regular season, Providence and New Hampshire split a pair of games that were played at Schneider Arena, with the Wildcats winning the first game 3-2 in overtime, and then the Friars bouncing back for a 4-2 the very next night.

On Friday, the two teams will play a rubber match with the stakes much higher, as the winner of this tilt at TD Garden will advance to play in the Hockey East championship game on Saturday. New Hampshire is also very much a fringe team for the field of 16 for the NCAA tournament, but can do a lot to help their footing with a strong showing this weekend.
