0 - The number of wins Northeastern has through six games. At 0-6, the Huskies are off to the worst start in program history.
0 - The number of Hockey East teams that are undefeated overall. While UMass Lowell, Maine, Merrimack and Notre Dame have yet to lose a game in league play, each league team has suffered at least one setback on the season including nonconference games.
0 - The number of goals Providence senior captain and returning leading scorer Ross Mauermann has through six games played. The Janesville, Wis. native had 19 goals last season. He has just two assists this season.
13 - The number of points Mauermann is away from 100. He's the closest Hockey East player to hitting the century mark, showing the youth of the league overall. Northeastern junior Kevin Roy is two points behind at 85.
1 - The number of goals Ben Hutton has through eight games. The returning All-American blue liner set a school record at Maine last season for most goals scored by a defenseman in a single season (15).
3 - This is the third time in four seasons that New Hampshire has started 0-2 in conference play. This certainly took this writer by surprise given how strong a program Dick Umile has had even despite the somewhat declining win totals in recent years.
5 - The amount of wins Merrimack has through seven games. Mark Dennehy's Warriors are just three shy of matching last year's win total for the entire season.
8 - Mario Lucia has eight goals in eight games played for the Fighting Irish. The Minnesota Wild draft pick has connected on 36.4 percent of his shots on goal. UMass Lowell's Chris Maniccia is the only player in Hockey East with a higher goal/per shots on goal percentage (44.4%).
12 - Notre Dame blue liner and New York Islanders prospect Robbie Russo has a +12 plus/minus rating through eight games. His return to the lineup after missing the last half of last season due to academic troubles has certainly bolstered what should be a stout ND defense.
266 - When Boston University treks down Commonwealth Ave. to square off against Boston College Friday night it will be the 266th meeting between the two schools. The Eagles currently hold a three-game winning streak in the rivalry.
6 - The amount of Hockey East teams that are under .500 overall. I'm a big believer in having to see the full picture and not just going solely on statistics, but four of the six teams have team combined save percentages below .890. One has a combined team save percentage of .901. UConn's combined team save percentage of .926 is the only one of the six to have respectable numbers despite being below .500.
There are obviously exceptions to every rule, but this continues to push my theory that in order for a team to be successful in the modern era of hockey it must have a team save percentage above .910.
